Effective Use of Canvas Prints

Works of art are something that a country is proud of displaying about. Artists, be it in digital printing or canvas, are equally valued in the society. As time passes by, artworks can be really expensive especially if these are made by well-known artists.

Creating and maintaining a work of art may be costly for many especially if the artwork costs a fortune. The artistic expressions of history and human experience are being shared with the curious public through displays in museum exhibits. Through the course of time however, these works of art may fade, lest, may be stolen if not properly secured and protected.

This does not mean that these works of art must be contained and kept secret from the public eye. No. Remember, artworks are supposed to be admired and artists deserve to be applauded with their skills and their talents. But along with each art work is the value of protecting these masterpieces from time and from the robbers. This is where canvas prints came from.

The use of canvas prints became one of the most alternative and cost-effective method to keeping the artworks secured and maintained. It's not just the effort that's being counted per piece of art but the time, the emotions involve, the skills and the monetary value of starting and composing a work are the basic investments an artist spends per art piece. Now imagine that work being dumped somewhere because of it's worn out attributes. What if it got lost or stolen somewhere?

This is the reason why canvas prints came into the fad. Reproducing the original artwork did evolve through ages but the purpose remains: preservation and protection of the artwork. How To Choose Suitable Canvas Prints For Your Home

With so many choices available, it can be confusing to choose canvas prints for you home decoration. Picking the right photos on canvas can make your home look more beautiful and inviting. To achieve harmony between your general decor and your artwork, you need to choose the ideal prints that will complement the surroundings. Here are some tips that may help you find the right canvas for your wall decoration.

1. Choosing photos with the right colors is very important. The colors on your picture need to match the color motif of your room, upholstery and wall. Avoid getting canvas wall art that has the same color as your wall. This is so you can create contrast and highlight the artwork. If the colors of your prints are similar to your wall color, your artwork will not be noticed. Choose colors that are present in other things in the room such as your couch, throw pillows, and other decor items. If your wall is dark, choose prints with lighter shades. If your wall is painted in a light color get darker colored canvas prints.

2. Take some measurements before you even start searching for wall art. Take note of your negative space. This will be the empty space around your artwork. Measure the width and height of your wall. Consider other decor pieces or furniture near your wall such as shelves and lampshades. Now visualize an ideal size for your prints considering the rest of the things in the room. Create the perfect balance. Avoid getting canvas pieces that are too big so you do not overwhelm the wall. If your prints are too small for the wall, it will look strange and dwarfed.

3. If you are decorating a long room, you may need more than one canvas. You can get canvas art sets or a triptych in a large size. A triptych is a photo that is printed on 3 pieces of canvas. This allows you to hang them a few inches apart and enables you to cover more wall space. Another thing you can do is to get several canvas prints in similar themes and hang them in a series next to each other with some space in between each canvas. You can also create sections in a long room by grouping 3 sets of canvas wall art. Supplement the artwork with its own set of furniture.

4. Make the subject on your photos on canvas match the general theme of your room. So let's say you have an Asian inspired home, get pictures that depict Asian culture. If your room is decorated with a Mediterranean concept, get a photo print of a souk in Turkey. If you have very modern furniture, hang pictures on canvas of famous metropolitan skylines from your favorite country. For a child's room with a jungle motif, you can decorate with animal canvas or a picture of an African landscape.

The most important thing to consider when choosing your canvas prints is if you actually enjoy looking at the picture. If you think that particular print will make you feel good and happy every time you look at it, then you should seriously consider getting it. Think of the ideal place or room in your house where it would look good.

Different Wall Art - Oil Paintings, Canvas Prints, Canvas Photos

When you think of wall art, maybe you are thinking about some form of painting, however reality looks much different, there are many different types of wall art. Throughout history people have looked for different ways of expressing their love for art through the paintings they hang on their walls. In this article we will discuss the three main forms of wall art, these are the oil paintings, canvas prints and canvas photos.

Oil Paintings
The first types of wall art that we will examine is oil painting. To put it simply, oil paintings is the term used for painting on canvas with colors that are composed of different oils. Oil paintings have been around since the fifth century, however it wasn't really until the middle ages that oil paintings became popular in the western world.

In order to create the artwork, the painter will use different oils to get different colors and results on the canvas. Most commonly the paint is made of linseed oil, poppy seed oil as well as walnut oil. The painter will use different kinds of oil in order to generate different effects on the painting. For instance the painter might use one kind of oil in order to achieve a certain type of color, while another kind of oil will have an influence on the drying time of the paint, in order to give the painting a more glossy look the oil is sometimes combined with a resin.

It is most common for oil painter to use a paintbrush to paint with, however some painters use rags or sponges to apply the paint. Oil paintings are traditionally painted on a canvas, these are linen cloths stretched over a frame in order to create a flat plane for the painter to paint on, in recent years however painters have started using cotton fabric since it is much cheaper and can easily be mass produced.

Canvas Prints
The second type of wall art that we will look at is canvas prints. Canvas prints gained immense popularity in the 1990's with the advances in photography and printing. Canvas Prints are simply paintings that are printed onto a canvas; the canvas is then stretched over a frame and finally hung on the wall. Canvas prints are produced on printers that can print on large rolls of canvas; the most common width for the canvas is 1.5 meters wide while the length is only determined by the size of the painting.

Canvas Photos
The third kind of wall art that we will look at is the canvas photo. In the past 20 years canvas photos have gotten much more popular, perhaps this is due to the fact that people are looking for different ways of decorating their homes with photos. While the canvas photo is similar to the canvas print in the sense that they are also printed onto large canvas rolls. Canvas photos mostly resemble photographs that are printed onto the canvas. These photos are then also stretched onto a frame.
